3 tips to ensure that you will be looking like a princess at the Palace of Versailles

Chateau de Versailles… a place where royals once partied, promenaded, and picnicked. The home of Marie Antoinette and Louis the 14th, fashion pioneers of their time. It would be a downright crime if you wore an ugly outfit there. You don't want Marie Antoinette crying in her grave right? If you do not want commit a fashion crime, follow this style guide to ensure that you are dressed to the nines on your day trip to Versailles.

1. Wear A Sundress

The easiest way to look good and feel like a princess at the Palace of Versailles is to wear your prettiest sundress. You do not want to wear a fancy dress because it can get hot there which may lead to sweating on the garment. So a sundress is the perfect choice! You will feel like Marie Antoinette while promenading the gardens in your dress.

2. Wear Neutral or Pastel Colors

Yes, Versailles is a significant place in French history, but we all know why you're going there… It's for aesthetic Instagram pics. These pictures are more about the Palace and gardens, so you want clothes that complement these backgrounds and will not detract from them. I strongly suggest wearing a neutral color like beige or a pastel. If clothing that is just plain beige or pastels is not your style, then choose a piece with a slight pattern. I chose a beige and white checked sundress while my friend wore a plain beige dress. Our pictures came out great and I feel like that is due to our outfits being cohesive with our background.

3. Wear Comfy Shoes!

Even though Marie Antoinette would want you to wear heels... I am telling you that you want to wear comfy shoes. The gardens of Versailles are filled with stairs and hills, so your feet will be begging for something comfortable. I suggest wearing a cute white sneaker or comfy platform sandals. I wore my Nike Air Max and they looked great with my dress.
