France is so much more than just Paris. The history of France is deeply rooted in the Loire Valley, known as the Garden of France. The Loire Valley lies to the South West of Paris and makes up the central region of France. It is along the Loire, France's longest river.

This past weekend my abroad program brought us to the Loire Valley to explore the many chateaus in the region. It was a truly enriching experience to learn about the Kings and Queens that once lived in the Chateaus. The region has all the natural beauty of the French countryside with a cooler temperature. Fall has begun, so the Loire Valley was a little chilly. It can be hard to think of cute outfits that will match the region's beauty while also being comfortable for long days of exploration. That is why I am making this style guide.
Below are a few outfit suggestions to ensure that you will be stylish but comfortable while exploring the many chateaus of the Loire Valley.

1. Wear A Long Skirt or Long Dress
I feel like long skirts, and long dresses are the perfect girly pieces for keeping you warm. While at the chateau, you want to feel like a princess, and a skirt or dress will do just that. I suggest a long skirt over a short skirt with stockings because long skirts are more comfortable during long days of walking. I also recommend choosing a skirt or dress with a fabric that will keep you warm, like wool, denim, or suede.

2. Wear Layers
Do not bring that oversized puffer jacket! It may sound cold in the Loire valley, but it is warmer than in Paris since it is a little more south. It gets hot in the sun, so you do not want a thick coat. Instead, I definitely suggest wearing layers. The base of both my outfits was a tank top. I then layered both outfits with a wool cardigan and leather jacket. This allowed me to stay warm during the morning boat ride. Then as the day got warmer, I just took off the leather jacket and put them into my tote. A leather jacket is a less bulky jacket that will keep you as warm as that winter puffer when layered with a warm cardigan or sweater. You can also use the cardigan to elevate your outfit into a Parisian outfit by tying the cardigan on your chest and wearing it like a cape.

3. Wear Comfy Shoes
I do not want to sound like a broken record in these style guides, but it is vital to wear comfortable shoes while exploring France. There is so much walking involved since many cities are built around walking. To add on, French chateaus have many steps, so wear some comfy sneakers to save yourself from blisters!
